Ghana football association has appealed to the Confederation of African Football to allow them two more weeks to decide on the fate of the Ghanaian domestic football.
CAF wrote to the various member federations to furnish them on their plans on their various domestic leagues amidst this Covid-19 period to aid them also decide on the continental activities by May 5.
The communication director of Ghana football association Henry Asante Twum disclosed on Asempa FM that, the final decision will be taken after consulting the various stakeholders.
“After our meeting with the clubs, we informed them that every decision of the FA will be in consultation with the members, we have given CAF enough information as regards to the situation in Ghana, and the Association on its own cannot take decisions without adhering to the directives from Government.”
He further stated that the FA will confirm the fat of the domestic football after they are convinced with the situational report from the government.
Henry Asante added that the FA suspended all the domestic competitions due to the advice they had from FIFA, CAF and the government of Ghana and they will all be consulted before further decisions will be arrived at.
“We closed down the FA headquarters, and suspended all Football activities in this country because FIFA, CAF and Government of Ghana had correspondence with the FA, and there has never been a moment where the FA has taken any decision without consulting these bodies, the EXCO and the President of the FA touches base with the ministry of Health on a daily basis.”
Countries such as Kenya, Angola, Guinea and Burkina Faso have taken their final decision on their domestic competitions.
Ghanaian domestic competitions have been suspended due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
