The future of Al Ahly forward Hermenegildo da Costa Paulo Bartolomeu popularly known as Geraldo has been thrown back into doubt, with 1º de Agosto monitoring the situation closely.
The 28-year-old Angolan forward could return to Angolan giants 1º de Agosto following a disappointing 2019-2020 season at Al Ahly.
The Brazilian-Angolan switch to the Cairo giants in 2018 on a four-year-deal after an impressive season with Agusto but he has failed to reproduce that performance in the colours of the Red Devils scoring just thrice in 27 appearances since December 2018.
Reports from journal d’Angola say Al Ahly boss René Weiler has exhausted their wait for a good performances from the Angolan international and Al Ahly are willing to let him go.
We understand Agusto is the player’s priority destination and the club is not against his return.
It is unclear whether he may leave Al Ahly on loan or a permanent deal but reports from the same source say Brazilian side Coritiba with whom Geraldo once won the second tier Championship in Brazil is another possible destination.
Geraldo remains a legend at Agusto for stirring the club to the semi final of the 2018 CAF Champions League with his four goals in 10 games.
The Angola international has won 14 caps and appeared at three AFCON tournaments[2010, 2012 & 2013] with the Palancas Negras of Angola.
A return Agusto will be a big boast upfront for the 2021-2021 Ambassadors of Angola in the CAF inter-club competitions.
