Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon forward Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene was on target as her Women’s Russian Premier League Club CSKA Moscow opened their season this Saturday.

The veteran Cameroonian forward scored one of two goals as her Club came from behind to win by 2-1 at home to Zenith Saint Petersburg ladies.

Elena Shesterneva gave the defending champions a worse possible start to their title defense when she scored for Zenith in the 2nd minute of the game at CSKA’s VEB Arena.

The goal left the host unperturbed.
In the 19th minutes of the game, Aboudi leveled matters, setting the stage for an exciting remaining 71 minutes.

The game stayed at 1-1 till the half time break.

Upon resumption both sides were in need of just a goal to shape the flow of the game.

Three minutes before the end of the game, Zenith were reduced to 10 following the sending off of Smirnova Darya Shkvara.

That red card was the turning point in the game as CSKA took advantage of the numerical superiority to score at death through Nadezhda Smirnova to take the lead for the first time in the game.

Four minutes of additional time wasn’t enough for a Zenith come-back.
At full-time it was jubilation for the champions whose 89th minutes goal gave them all three points.

The champions are off to a winning start.

CSKA immediately occupies the top position on the log, with three points, just like Zvezda who also won 2-1 at WFC Krasnoyarsk.
