The president of the Gabonese football federation Pierre Alain Mounguengui has urged their national team captain Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang to leave Emirates stadium, and join a club more ambitious than his current club, Arsenal.
A handful of European giants amongst which are PSG plus Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid have joined Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for the 30-year-old forward’s signature.
The former St Etienne is currently valued €56 millions. Aubameyang has scored 20 goals in 32 games in all competitions this campaign. His namesake Pierre Alain Mounguengui thinks he is bigger than his current habitat.
“All Gabonese people see him as a player who can end his career at a major club and, above all,win beyond individual trophies or bring home a major competition.”
Not only is Aubameyang the biggest Gabonese export in the beautiful game, his father Pierre Aubam Yaya is an ex international who captain his nation to the 1988 UDEAC cup win and Aubameyang is the current captain of the Panthers of Gabon. A man with such attention is expected to give his people at least a trophy to celebrate per season.
“Right now, he’s at Arsenal, and he’s won nothing here, so it’s a collective failing,
“I don’t want to say that Arsenal are not ambitious, but Arsenal are not as ambitious as some big clubs in Europe .”
“If Pierre could secure a contract with a more ambitious club, he would definitely find his place there,”Pierre Alain Mounguengui told ESPN.
The Ex Dortmund forward’s next move could be the last big move for the 2015 African Footballer of the year.
