The case of the career of former Olympique of Marseille defender and 2015 AFCON participant with Cameroon Brice Nlate Ekongolo, 22 is currently a perfect demonstration of how a player can move from a near successful player to a failure within a very short period of time.

Considered one of the best young defenders coming through at the Veledrome in the 2014/2015 season, Brice’s stock has diminished to the extent that, the defender has to try out at a 3rd tier club in France in other to stand a chance of getting a contract.

Included in Cameroon’s squad for the 2015 AFCON by coach Volke Finke, Brice was denied the chance to participate in the tournament because of Ghastly Car crash he was a victim of in France on the 27th December 2014.

The accident kept him out of football for a year before he returned to action. Brice spent last season at 3rd tier French side Aubagne FC where he featured in just 10 games in the league and scored 2 goals.

It’s unbelievable to say the least, the Nlate who became a full international at the age of 17 is the same player doing a try out in a newly relegated third tier club in France.

Brice’s case is a perfect demonstration for other young players who are still to go through the ups and downs of football. He will not be 23 until October this year, therefore he has enough time to redeem his career.
