After a goalles draw with newly promoted Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Naija Ratels FC in the opening game of the 2021 Flying Officers Cup, the coach of Ghana Police Ladies FC, Frank Oswald expressed his delight stating that the tournament will help his side prepare well for next season’s Ghana Women’s Premier League.
“It’s a nice game and a good test for us as preparation for our league in the upcoming season. Playing the host as an opening match is a final before the final. I am very happy that we were able to hold them. Getting a draw in this game is not a bad result. Both teams have put up a fantastic display. I am very happy for both teams.
“We were lacking match fitness. After the end of last season, we have never played any friendly match. This pre-season tournament is a very good platform for us to prepare ourselves for the season ahead. Though we weren’t able to score, I am very happy that we didn’t concede any goal.” Frank Oswald opined during his post-match reaction.
Ghana Police Ladies FC finished behind eventual Champions, Hasaacas Ladies FC last season in the Ghana Women’s Premier League, and are using the Flying Officers Cup to prepare for the season ahead.
Ghana Police Ladies had since played out a 1-1 draw with Honey Badgers FC in its second group game.
Up next for the Ghanaian team is the final group game with NWFL Premiership side, Royal Queens in a bid to fight for the two spots up for grabs in Group A as far as the quarter-final of the 2021 Flying Officers Cup is concerned.
