Former Green Eagles, Flying Eagles, and Principal’s Cup player, Tajudeen Disu says the match official in charge of the 2021 Nigeria Women Football League NWFL Premiership week nine game between DreamStar FC Ladies of Lagos and Rivers Angels was unfair with her officiating of the game as she ensured that Rivers Angels equalised in the closing moments of the game.
“This one happened in my presence. I am here for the Principal’s Cup and here is a Women’s league match. It’s so pathetic to see how the referee officiated the game. She made sure that the visiting team equalised by adding more time. Everybody at the stadium saw what happened. This is why the game is going down the drain and it starts from the administrators. When you put the wrong people at the wrong place, this type of thing will continue to take place.” He told www.kick442.com after Rivers Angels forced DreamStar FC Ladies of Lagos to a 1-1 draw at Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos.
The Supervisor for Agriculture, Youth and Sports Development at Surulere Local Government, Lagos State posited that Nigerian football is going down the drain due to corruption and bad officiating.
He said: “What we watched will tell you why the game is going down the drain in this country. The game will not develop with this type of officiating. We know they can’t stop it due to corruption. Corruption has been the bane of Nigerian football and has killed Nigerian game.”
Referee Adeyemi Christiana was in charge of the NWFL Premiership week nine encounter that saw Deborah Abiodun’s goal canceling Kalu Favour’s goal in the 85th minute to ensure that Rivers Angels maintained their unbeaten run in the league after nine games.
A win for relegation-threatened DreamStar FC Ladies would have been the major upset for the season before Deborah Abiodun equalised in the 85th minute.
