Former CAF president Issa Hayatou is one amongst several football brains appointed in the organisation of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN 2020), and the The Total African cup of Nations (AFCON 2021).
After being appointed by a presidential decree on May 2017 as board Chair of the National Academy of Football (ANAFOOT) – Issa Hayatou on a special Sports Ministerial release of September, 14, has once more been appointed special adviser of the CHAN 2020 and AFCON 2021 organisation committee.
Beneath are the names of the members of the organising committee and their posts;
President: Minister of Sports and Physical Education
Vice President: Seidou Mbobo Njoya, President of FECAFOOT
Special Adviser: Issa Hayatou former CAF president
Aboubakar Alim Konate – 1st vice President FECAFOOT
Osih Joshua Nambangui, 2nd vice President FECAFOOT
Akini Benoit Raoul, member of the executive committee of FECAFOOT
Benga Zachee Robert Theophile, Secretary General of MINSEP
Dissake Mbarga Michel, General inspector of services at MINSEP
Etogo Jean-Claude COMIP – AFCON representative
Ewane Francois Felix, representative of COMIP-AFCON.
NHANACK Tonye David, Director of the TOTAL CHAN 2020 tournament.
Hayatou, 73, was top of the football fraternity in Africa for 29 years – 1988-2017 and his expertise would be needed to help cruise Cameroon through hosting hitches.
It was in the term of Issa Hayatou that Cameroon was handed her first AFCON hosting rights since 1972 but that privilege was later striped off by his Malagasy successor Ahmad Ahmad.
The organisation of top-notch events is surely going to be a “stroll in the park” for Hayatou who been in control of CAF and acted as an interim at FIFA from October 2015, to February 2016.
