Former Adamawa Queens player, Marvelous Duru last weekend won the Benin Republic Women’s league title with Espoir.
The player was part of the Espoir side that defeated Aïnovi 0-3 in the Benin Republic Women’s Championship Grande Finale.
“I feel good and happy to be part of the Espoir side that won the Benin Republic Women’s league. It’s an honour to win and become defending Champions of the league.” She told www.kick442.com.
Marvelous Duru was part of record-making Adamawa Queens that qualified for the 2019 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Four in Lagos and also helped the team return to top-flight NWFL Premiership from the Championship.
“The difference between the Nigerian Women’s football league and that of Benin Republic is in the aspect of strength and competitiveness. The Nigerian league is stronger and more competitive. It’s hard to determine the team that will win the league in Nigeria because almost all the teams are very strong. There are more experienced players in the Nigeria league but here in Benin Republic, the league is not as strong as that of Nigeria. There are few competitors in the Benin Republic Women’s league.
It’s easy to predict the winners of the league.” She concluded.
Marvelous Duru won the league title with Espoir alongside former Naija Ratels player Anita Msughter and former Ladies Strikers midfielder, Sarah Inkoom.
Espoir will represent Benin Republic in the Zonal Qualifiers for the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
