2019 AFCON bound Nigeria and Egypt face each other at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba,Nigeria in an international friendly today for the first time since 2002. Nigeria beat Seychelles 3-1 in Asaba,same venue for today’s game in their final AFCON qualiers match last Friday.

Nigeria and Egypt have qualified for the 2019 AFCON finals and are using the encounter as a warm up to the June event.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria finished top of group E with 13 points, a point above runners up South Africa Sunday.
The Pharoahs of Egypt ended second to Tunisia in group J with 13 points.
The vice Africa champions gained their qualification already prior to the qualifiers after the initial host country, Cameroon was stripped off the competitions hosting right by the Confederation of African Football ,CAF.

10 times African champions (both Nigeria and Egypt) have meet 17 times in all competition with today’s clash being their 18th.
Both teams have faced each other in an international friendly 3 times with their last encounter ending in parity on November 25th 2002.
Egypt has never defeated Nigeria in an international friendly so far; their best performance was a draw against the three time Africa Champions. However ,they have recorded 7 games,drawn 5 and lost 5 against Nigeria.
Nigeria have won two out of their three friendly encounters and the record 18 time AFCON attaindees are aiming for a win to extend their dominance.

Morocco also clash with Argentina in another high profile international friendly game while Algeria square up with Tunisia in a North African Derby.
