Members of the current Senegal men’s national football team have donated 109 556 110 FCFA to support the fight against the CoronaVirus in their country.
“A total sum of 109 556 110 has been raised on this day by the Senegalese football family. It is our part of funds for the fight against and eradication of the Covid-19 in our country”: a release from the country’s football team read.
www.aps.sn reports states the national team players raised the sum of 85 millions FCFA while the technical staff raised 5.7 Millions and other football actors generated 18.4 Millions FCFA.
The action from coach Aliou Cisse’s team has been welcome by a good number of Senegalese.
Before the action from the entire team, Sadio Mane who is considered as one of the leaders of the team equally made a donation to support the fight.
This action is similar to that of multiple football actors around the world who have coughed out huge sums of money to assist the fight against the deadly pandemic.
As at 9:45 AM on March 30th, Senegal had registered 142 cases if infected persons.
