Indomitable Lions key winger Nicolas Moumie Ngamaleu has joined Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on the list of players unavailable for Cameroon’s two leg 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs games on March 25 and 29 against the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
According Swiss Media Ngamaleu who was not on the team sheet in the weekend’s 1-2 League defeat at home to FC Zurich.
Recent events indicate that Ngamaleu who featured in all 24 games under coach Antonio Conceicao will miss the tie.
27-year old Ngamaleu has been a massive figure for the Cameroon and his absence could completely change Song’s plans. Cotonsport’s Marou Souaibou will replace the forward.
At Club level it hasn’t been any different for Ngamaleu as he counts six goals and five assist in 35 games this season.
Injury has denied the former Cotonsport man the chance of adding to his four international goals, nine assist from 27 international games for the seven times FIFA World Cup participants.
Ngamaleu’s replacement is yet to be named but there is a likelihood a local be picked.
Ngamaleu’s only FIFA tournament for Cameroon was the 2017 Confederation cup and he must recover in time to be fit for the World cup should Cameroon sail through.
The 28 players invited by Song have started arriving camp since the wee hours of Monday.
Cameroon take on Algeria on March 25 and 29 without Ngamaleu and Zambo Anguissa.
