International FC’s forward, Seidou Ismaila featured for Cameroon’s U-17 Squad for the first time since their arrival in Brasilia, and believes the reigning African champions need to prepare better ahead of the FIFA World Cup which kickoffs on Saturday in Brazil.
The 16-year-old sensation scored 3 goals and assisted 2 in 3 games during the 2019 U-17 African Cup of Nations, and pre-season AFCON games in Rwanda.
He suffered from an injury which has kept him away from duties but feels reintergrating the squad has not been easy.
“It wasn’t easy to play in this game since I have been suffering from injury for long. To reintergrate the team was not easy. We won the game but the most important is that we to be objective and focused on the competition which kickoffs in some days. And we need to better prepared since we do not have time. We need to remain solid.
The camp in Brasilia was very good. We had a great camp here. We need to prepare more ahead of the competition” Ismaila told Kick442.com in an exclusive interview.
Seidou was among the team that won the 2019 U-17 African Cup of Nations in Tanzania and qualified for the World Cup.
He came off the bench to provide plenty of energy and took over goal scoring duties as Cameroon beat Morocco in Dar Es Salaam.
The top class forward scored a brace which sealed Cameroon a world cup ticket and was awarded the Man of the match award for his brilliant performance.
He is among five attackers retained by coach Thomas Libih in the final list of 21 for the global football extravaganza.
Cameroon are returning the World Cup for the first time in 16 years. The exited the competition in the group stages during their last campaign.
The World Cup bound face Tajikistan, Spain and Argentina in group E.
