Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers suffered a 70-79 defeat to Cape Verde in the fourth game of the First Round of FIBA World Cup Africa Qualifiers.
Cape Verde outstandingly won the second Quarters with 11-25 after Nigeria had narrowly taken the first quarter 15-14.
Cape Verde won the game 15-14, 11-25, 21-17, 23-23 at the Kigali Arena, Rwanda.
The game was the first for Nigeria after the Federal Government upturned recent ban on international basketball.
Cape Verde moved to the top of Group A with six points, the same points as Nigeria, a point ahead of Mali, and two points better than Uganda.
Nigeria will next face Mali on July 2 before playing Uganda on Sunday (July 3).
The top three teams at the end of the First Round in Group A will qualify for the Second Round.
