One of the support staff of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Ferdinand Makota has given Cameroonians the hopes in their quest to see Liverpool’s 17-year-old wonderkid Billy Koumetio in Lions colours.

Reacting to a recent post on Facebook analyzing the performance of the young defender in Liverpool’s 7-2 against Blackpool on Saturday, the French-based football agent was not short of praises for Billy Koumetio.

“He is very interesting and followed closely by the technical staff of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, More later!!” Ferdinand Makota revealed in a conversation monitored by

Born in France of Cameroonian parents, Billy started his football education in his country of birth with stints qt multiple Clubs but notably at Orleans.

He moved to Liverpool FC in January last year and quickly settled in with a handful of impressive displays with the reserves.

He has since won the confidence of the Club’s head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Few weeks ago, the Club offered the native from the West Region of Cameroon a first professional contract.

Mr Makota’s comment goes a long way to display how much efforts the current staff of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are making to add a new breed of ‘hungry’ lions for the improvement of the Cameroon national selection.

Billy Koumetio holds a French passport but remains eligible to represent Cameroon through his parents.
