Southwest Representatives, G.S Likomba II, are winners of the 15th Edition of the 2022 Fenasco B League women’s football game after Victory over The Far North Region.
The 2022 Fenasco B league games was hosted by the country’s political capital, Yaounde, in the towns of;Melen, Ngoa-Ekelle, Elig-Effa and Mfandena.
Head coach Emma Nketta and her girls picked up the fourth Gold medal for the Southwest region, causing the Region to now sit on the 5th position in the official rankings with the Centre Region leading the table with a wide gap.
The title win came through the final game played on thursday June 23 and on Friday June 24, 2022.
South West beat Far North Region 1-0 to carry girls football trophy to emerge champions of Cameroon.
This is the Second time The South West region log heads with The Far North Region and beat them. First encounter was in 2019 where they became Runner up of the competition after beating Maroua and now in 2022, the young lads representing the South west region beat the girls from the Far North region of the country to Emerge Champions.
Melody Okechuku came out as Best Player and highest goal scorer of the tournament with 16 goals.
Coach Emma for two consecutive years, (2017 and 2018) brought home gold medals with GBHS Tiko (Secondary Education) and now with the Primary school squad in 2019, The South west Region defeat the Far North Region again to become Vice Champions and now 2022 women Football Champions with the Primary school squad still.
Over 1,350 athletes from primary schools in the ten regions of Cameroon participated in this year’s edition.
The 15th edition for the Competition carries the theme; A healthy and safe environment for school sports without COVID-19 and was launched by the Minister of Basic Education, Prof. Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa.
This year’s edition had in total, 11 sporting disciplines; Football, Athletics, Gymnastics, Handball, Arm Wrestling, Judo, Basketball, Volleyball, futsal, Tennis, Badminton.
The closing ceremony is scheduled for Saturday June 25, 2022. The winners and overall best teams per discipline will receive their medals tomorrow.
