The Secretary General of FECAFOOT North West, Ndi Tsembom Elvis has beckoned on the powers that be to synergize and deliver the Bamenda municipal stadium.
He made the appeal Wednesday December 23, 2020 as he reviewed the activities of FECAFOOT North West for 2019/2020.
“The President of FECAFOOT North West who doubles as Mayor of Bamenda I has held several meetings with the city Mayor of Bamenda and other vital stakeholders to ensure that the Bamenda municipal stadium reopens”, he said.
“In July 2020, the national bureau sent us an inspection mission and we thought this imbroglio will be resolved. Unfortunately, things are the same like when we took over office. Stakeholders are finding it difficult to break this deadlock. We continue to appeal to the powers that be to synergize and deliver us the stadium”, Ndi Tsembom Elvis said.
Since 2016 when the Tombi A Roko Sidiki lead FECAFOOT bureau laid the foundation stone to construct a 2000 capacity Olympic stadium, Bamenda and the North West region as a whole have been left without a stadium.
With the presence of four clubs in the professional leagues; PWD Bamenda, Yong Sports Academy, Foncha Street FC and Vision Sports FC have resulted to the using of the Yong Sports Academy stadium.
The cry of the football loving population of Bamenda has been for the reopening of the stadium that has seen the construction of business places around the stadium.
In his welcome address, the president of FECAFOOT North West Mbigha Njah Felix mentioned that the bureau and himself are doing everything possible to make sure that the stadium is delivered to the region.
