The Head of the Nigeria Women Football League Management Committee, Aisha Falode, has extolled the virtues of late Nigeria Football Federation, NFF board member and Chairman of the Nigeria National League, NNL, Chidi Offor Okenwa, who passed away after losing a battle with leukemia, Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Falode, said the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, and indeed Nigerian football have lost a great technocrat whose love for the game was second to none.

“Chidi, was always on ground to give valuable advice for the growth of women’s football in Nigeria. He had a special interest in the women’s league, and he fought so hard to ensure the NWFL gets desired supports to reach its pinnacle. At the last Congress of the NWFL in Benin City, it was Chidi who moderated on behalf of the NFF during the business session with club’s chairmen, and helped pointed to a brighter future for the women league. We have lost a gem.” Falode said.

In a similar vein, Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Kwara State, commiserate with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Nigeria National League, NNL, Government and people of Enugu State and entire football fraternity on the death of Chief Chidi Ofor Okenwa; Chairman of Enugu State Football Association, Chairman of Nigeria National League, NNL, the second-tier Football League in Nigeria and he is equally Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

“God will grant his soul eternal rest and strengthen his family.” The statement from the club read.

The heartbreaking news of the demise of the Enugu state Football Association chairman came on Tuesday afternoon, May 5, after been diagnosed as having leukemia.

Kwara United FC in an official statement paid a touching tribute to late Chief Okenwa, describing his death as a huge loss to Nigerian football.
“We are so sad and devastated to hear about the death of Chief Chidi Okenwa and we want to commiserate with his family and friends.
