Fako United made it two wins against Botafogo AFC as the former defeated the latter in the ongoing Fako Divisional League. Played at the BGS School Field, goals from Enow Stephen and Protus Ndi gave Fako United a 2-0 victory against Botafogo AFC.
In a repeat of the first game between the two sides in the first round of the league, it was Fako United who ran out 2-0 winners against a Botafogo side that was yet to find its feet in the competition. And the team is still to find its feet looking at the results recorded so far.
In eight games that Botafogo have played, they are yet to pick up a single point as all their games have ended in defeats. For Fako United, the team won Babungo 2-1 in the first game of the second round while they were exempted last time out.
Botafogo began the game powerfully and look to get their noses in front. They almost did so with Franklin Laika coming close but he flopped his opportunity. The game was quite physical with both sides looking to get a foothold of game.
Diop then had the first meaningful opportunity for Fako United but his shot went wide. The opportunity was followed by Joe Etongo but his header went above the crossbar.
Protus Ndi will then look to test the Botafogo goalkeeper but his effort was saved. The signs that Fako United would score were showing but like Botafogo, their efforts could not trouble the other team’s goalkeeper as both sides headed into half time 0-0.
Fako United came out guns blazing in the second half with the team knowing what the prize is up for offer if they succeed in winning the game. Just 15mins into the second half, Enow Stephen scored Fako United’s first goal of the game at the 60mins.
Enow Stephen was outstanding during this game with most of the glaring chances fallen to him. The player has been outstanding equally in Fako United’s previous encounters and they will look to him before the league wraps up.
Three minutes later it will be 2-0 for Fako United with Protus Ndi scoring. He had been threatening to score but his previous efforts lacked the finest.
The victory for Fako United keeps things exciting in Pool C with the team in the third position with 12 points. They are just three points behind Al Jazeera who have played one game more. Botafogo is currently bottom of Pool C with 0 points recorded. With two teams set to ascend to the playoffs in Pool C, Fako United is very much still in the fold.
