Al Jazeera SA picked up their first three points after defeating their opponent Botafogo AFC 3-0, with the latter beginning the game with 9 players and eventually ending with 6 players. The game counted for one of the Matchday two fixtures of the Fako Divisional League played this Sunday, April 11 at the BGS School Field.
A brace from Ndu Daniel and a goal from Emmanuel Kenzo ensured that Al Jazeera picked up their first three points of the championship.
Al Jazeera SA headed into this game after losing their first game 1-0 to Istanbul FA. For Botafogo AFC the team did not play the first game as their opponent ANADA withdrew from the tournament. This was the first competitive game for Botafogo AFC in a couple of years now.
Al Jazeera got off to the best possible start in the game, as they took the lead at the 5mins. Ndu Daniel scored from a beautiful play from the side. Al Jazeera had showed signs of scoring Mua Yanick but his effort was saved.
Emanuel Kenzo and Ndu Daniel combined beautiful in the game with their seamless play that saw the side create a host of opportunities.
Botafogo AFC’s lack of full squad was evident in the game. The team lacked composure and their play didn’t even text the opposing goalkeeper.
Al Jazeera with a two-man advantage then extended their lead in the game, as Emmanuel Kenzo scored the second goal for the side. Emmanuel Kenzo had been threatening to score, but his previous efforts lacked composure.
Al Jazeera then pushed for a third goal with Mbua Yanick having an opportunity at the 21mins. He, however, could not make something out of the chance as his shot went just wide from the post.
At the 38mins Botafogo’s chances of picking something from the game was made worse with the team going down to 8 players. Valery Mbah went off injured in the encounter, the player entered the game with an injury which he could not sustain.
The second half began as the first with Al Jazeera pushing to score maximum goals in the game.
Their efforts were paid off as at the 62mins the team scored their third goal of the game. Ndu Daniel scored from a beautiful play from Tumfor Clovis and he headed the ball into the net, his second goal of the encounter.
As if things could not get any worse Botafogo AFC was then reduced to 7 players with Herman going off injured. It was a hard game for a side that had limited players in the game, and had to dig deep for limited chances in the game.
The game was then cancelled at the 72mins of play after Botafogo’s goalkeeper Kelvin Etah went off injured. The team was left with 6 players, and so according to the frukes of the game it had to be ended.
This was Al Jazeera’s first victory of the Fako Divisional League after losing their first encounter against Istanbul FA. The team now counts three points in Pool C and will hope to continue this form into Matchday three.
