The Fako Divisional League got off to an outstanding start with teams already stamping their mark and making their intentions known in the competition. After the coronavirus caused the league not to be launched last year, the 2021 edition took off with a mammoth crowd in attendance on Sunday, April 4 at the Tiko Town Green Stadium.
Vishi Sports Academy was the biggest scorers on the first day of play. The team who participated in the Cup of Cameroon and almost eliminated Prisons FC put 4 past Destiny Restoration SA. It was a statement of intent as the team have the ambitions of making it into the Regional League this year.
Another team that showed prospects last year is Istanbul FA. The team was amongst three that qualified as SW Representatives for the Cup of Cameroon, though the competition did not take place due to the health pandemic. Istanbul FA began their championship with a 1-0 victory over Al Jazeera SA.
Thirteen (13) goals were scored on the first day of play across the Fako Division. There were two home and away victories respectively. One game (ANADA v Botafogo AFC) did not take place and it is reported that ANADA has withdrawn from the championship.
