Italian Serie A side Lecce have included 24-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Joseph Fabrice Ebogo Ondoa in their wishlist for the upcoming transfer window.
The historic club in their first campaign in Serie A after promotion from the Serie B.
Unione Sportiva Lecce have struggled in their return to the Serie A. 26 games into the current campaign the club is engaged in the relegation struggle with just 25 points and a dissatisfactory defense record with 56 goals conceded, a record in the championship.
Coach Fabio Liverani have a fighting chance of beating the drop.
Reports from ‘foot inside’ have it that, the club is out in search of a replacement for goalkeepers Gabriel and Mauro Vigorito who have been used interchangeably but produced unsatisfactory results this season.
The reports further states KV Ostende’s Ondoa could be at the Stadio Via Del Mare next term having struggled as back up for French goalkeeper
William Dutoit throughout his two seasons in Belgium.
Ondoa’s stellar performances at the 2017 AFCON in Gabon fueled the Indomitable Lions to their fifth continental title against the expectations of many.
He followed coach Hugo Broos to Ostende in the summer of that year, unfortunately, one of the most talented young netminders of his generation, Ondoa got relegated to the bench and he inconveniently plays back up for Onana these days in the national team. His failure to translate his 2017 heroism for country into progress at club level offered Onana a chance he took with both hands.
Ondoa is tied to the Belgian club till the summer of 2022 but limited game time can be the main reason the Ex-Barcelona B man wants out of Ostende.
It promises to be a busy and interesting summer for the ex Sevilla Atletico shot stopper especially as Cameroon host the AFCON in 2021 and Onana could also move away from Ajax Amsterdam.
