The coach of the university of Buea wrestling team at the just ended university games in Dschang, has told kick 442.com that his athletes and most especially his gold medalist duo were” great” and “performant “at the annual sport jamboree this year.
Coach Jude Lukong and his wrestling team were team UB’s gold basket at the varsity games with team wrestling winning two gold medals.
Blandine Ngiri emerged winner in the women 68kg freestyle wresling category for just the first time after a similar medal in Bamenda although in a different category while Efonde completed the wrestling teams success with a second in African wrestling.
Coach Jude nicknamed the ” man of the situation” expressed utmost joy following the success of his team despite not meeting up with his objectives this year.
” We call it wonderful performance this year because we almost met our objectives which was initially 3 gold. So this year was better than Maroua” the wrestling strategist explained.
UB finished without gold during the University games in Maroua. Despite the enormous challenges this year, the wrestling team overcame and showed determination and strength. The coach also added that his squad reflects excellence.
“We encountered serious degree of cheating from officials and the feeding for athletes while in Foumban. My athletes are so far great in their level of wrestling skills and degree of resistance with good morals”.
The university of Buea finished 9th on the medal classification table with 10 medals.
