Newly-elected CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe is expected in Cameroon in the days ahead.
According to details kick442.com has stumbled on, the South African Billionaire will travel to Cameroon on Sunday, March 14 for a brief visit during which he will hold a working session with top stakeholders of Cameroon football.
Dr Patrice Motsepe was elected CAF president unopposed on Friday, March 12 in Rabat-Morocco thus ending a four-year turbulent stint under Malagasy administrator Ahmad Ahmad.
Motsepe’s election also concided when the election of Prince Mbombo Njoya (Cameroon Football Federation president) into the CAF governance executive committee.
Both men are expected to hold talks during the stop in Cameroon.
The visit to Cameroon will be Motsepe’s first official outing in his era as president of CAF.
Ousted CAF boss Ahmad Ahmad had strong ties with football authorities in the Central African nation. It is unlikely to see Motsepe drift from the Ahmad approach of sticking close to Cameroon’s president Paul Biya or legendary Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o.
Though there has been some criticism FIFA’s involvement in the electoral process through President Gianni Infantino, many will agree Dr Motsepe has the mettle to pull African football out of the difficulties it has faced in recent times.
