87 years old Legendary France manager Michel Hidalgo has passed away after an illness.
The midfielder was born on March 22, 1933, and served as both player and manger of France team.

He managed France National team from 1976-1984 taking over from Stefan Kovacs in 1976.

As manager he led France to the fourth place in the 1982 World Cup and two years later he gave France the nation’s first ever major title UEFA European Championship – 1984.
After handing over as manager to Henri Michel in 1984, he immediately took over as Technical Director till 1986.

Winning the UEFA European Championship 1984, he was manager of the year in 1984, French manager of the year 1982, European coach of the year-Sepp Herberger Award 1984, World Soccer Magazine world manager of the year 1984.

As a player he started his youth career in US Normandy and later played for Le Havre from 1952–1954, Reims from 1954–1957 and Monaco from 1957–1966. France National team in 1962.

He served as manager from in Monaco 2nd team, France assistant coach. From 1976–1984 France National team,
1982-1986 as National Technical Director of football in. 1986–1991.
