Chippa United FC have suffered a dissapointing 2-3 defeat at to Gallants FC in Match-Day 20 of the South Africa Premier Soccer League game this Saturday as Cameroon’s Bienvenu Eva Nga and Ndabayithethwa Phillip Ndlondlo of South Africa both scored a brace each.
The hosts scored a goal in either half through lethal finisher Bienvenu Eva Nga who first leveled Ndabayithethwa Phillip Ndlondlo’s 30th minute opener with a 37th minute equalizer.
The score remained 1-1 till the break. But on resumption for the second segment Chippa dominated and in the 51st minute Nga made it 2-1.
Having struggled for points in recent times, Chippa United was on a mission to make amends and leave the relegation zone.
Eva was at his best in the afternoon. Though the visitors rallied to equalize from the penalty spot through Ndabayithethwa Phillip Ndlondlo from the penalty spot.
Nga and Ndlondlo were constant menace to the opposition defensive plans for the best part of 90 minutes but veteran Joseph Malongoane scored the winner taking the shine away from the brace stars.
The Chilli boys are in serious trouble going into the final phase of the season.
Gallants kept the 3-2 advantage till the end, thus continuing a good run of matches without defeat in four.
The result means Chippa United moves stays in the relegation positions to 15th in the standings, with 17 points to their credit.
Chippa host face Golden Arrows next weekend, hoping to get a result to enhance their relegation escape.
The brace takes Nga’s season tally to nine goals and an assist in 20 PSL games this season.
The 28-year old striker in his second season at Chippa has surpassed his five goals bar set during his debut season.
Nga is the third best scorer in the South Africa Premier Soccer League this season. He is four goals behind Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns and who is closely followed by Royal AM forward Sepana Victor with ten goals.
