Belgian Jupiler Pro League outfit Standard Liege of Cameroon International Fai Collins Ngoran have picked up a first victory in this season’s UEFA Europa League competition from their match-day four fixture away at Lech Poznan.
Fai started the game with his colleagues cautious of the need for a win to keep them in the competition after a very poor start of a point in three games.
Both sides failed to get a goal in the first segment though coming close on a pair of occasions.
Mamadou Obbi Oularé had himself sent off in the 45th minute of the game after picking up a second booking.
The game erupted in the second segment with ten men Standard Liege more energetic.
Swedish forward Mikael Ishak scored the game’s opener at the hour mark off an inch perfect pass from Tymoteusz Puchacz.
Burkinabe teenager Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba scored Standard’s equalizer in the 63rd minute of the game.
Đorđe Crnomarković was also sent off in the 74th minute leaving both sides with 10 men.
Cypriot winger Konstantinos Laifis scored the winner for Standard Liege in the 93rd minute, thus giving the Belgians a first victory in the competition.
Fai Collins played the entire game and was very effective in his full-back role.
Standard remain bottom of group D ahead of their trip to Scotland to confront leaders Rangers but before that they travel to Anderlecht for their commitments in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.
