Cameroon international defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui and his Belgian side KAA Gent, suffered a one nil defeat to PAOK Salonika in the 16 rounds of the away- leg of the Europa Conference League on Thursday. The Cameroonian defender had watched his team’s defeat as a substitute.
Ngadeu-Ngadjui had offered an impressive show-out, in Gent’s one nil win game against Brugge on Wednesday to gain a qualification ticket for the Belgian Cup finals . And looks forward in facing either Eupen or Anderlecht in the finals.
The first half ended without many opportunities for either side, with Chuba Akpom’s 26 minutes left footed shot from the left side of the box that was well saved by Gent’s goalkeeper Roef.
In the second half, POAK came stronger and looked to take the lead. The host had two good chances with a shot by Lefteris Lyratzis. Then came the deadlock breaker at the 57th minutes of play via a free kick with the right footed shot to the centre of the goal from Kurtic.
The former Slavia Prague player who recently helped Cameroon earn a third place, in the just ended 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations holds 34 caps with Gent. And is announced in the upcoming summer transfer to relocate either in Saudi Arabia or Turkey.
