Newly-signed Cameroonian full-back Etta Bawak Thomas has met the rest of his Al Merreikh colleagues at the Club’s ongoing training camp in Dubai.
The 27-year old full-back who recently agreed to join the 21 time Sudanese Champions on a two-year deal from Cotonsport arrived Sudan on Thursday and is expected to resume training in the days ahead.
Coach Leonardo Neiva’s team is in the gulf country to prepare for the 2021-2022 domestic season and the CAF Champions League which they have reached the group stages.
The former UMS of Loum, Douala Athletic Club 2000 and New Stars of Douala full-back who operates comfortable in the left and right side of the defense counts two Elite One titles to his credit and participated in all three of Cameroon’s games during the 2018 African Nations Championship.
Switching to Al Mereikh will provide a first real opportunity for the player abroad and in Sudan.
Etta is expected to make his debut in the group stages of the CAF Champions League this season.
The former Under-23 international for Cameroon played 86 games in local and international competitions during his three year stay at Cotonsport of Garoua and won one league title plus finished runners-up twice.
