Etienne Eto’o Pineda has put the teams taking part in the ongoing U-20 AFCON on notice as he says their victory against Mozambique gives a message to everyone that they are here to win the competition.
A brace for Etienne Eto’o and one goal each for Kevin-Prince Milla and Abdoulaye Yahaya ensured that the U-20 Lions finished the group stage on a perfect three wins from three games played.
“I feel proud of the team. As I said before, I think us finishing the first step of the competition with 9 points in 3 matches is important,” Etienne Eto’o told the team media officer.
“It gives a message to everyone that we are here to win and go as far as we can. We have to continue working for the team and continue like that.”
Etienne Pineda opened the scoring for the junior lions at the 7mins through a beautifully curled free-kick. He then made it 2-0 at the 45+3mis through a beautifully taken penalty kick. Mozambique’s goalkeeper Kimiss went one way while Etienne slotted it the other way.

Abdoulaye Yahaya then ensured that all three points went to Cameroon, scoring the fourth goal at the 87mins. Gianluca Antonio Remo had pulled one goal back at the 85mins for Mozambique.
This was the first game for Etienne Eto’o in the competition. Before this game, Etienne had been on the bench. the outstanding performance from Etienne Eto’o against Mozambique saw him picking up the man of the match award.
In three games played the U-20 Lions of Cameroon have succeeded in winning all, picking up 9 points in total, something Coach Ousmanou Christophe had called for before the game against Mozambique. The team had also scored 6 goals and conceded just 1.
