The Cameroon’s U-20 international footballer is on course to building a career, image and personal brand for himself. Fresh from the CAF Under 20 AFCON competition which Cameroon got eliminated at the Semi’s, the son to legendary Samuel Eto’o Fils created eye catching displays for himself by scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists in three games.
Much has been said about the just turned 19-year old boy who plays for Spanish academy Real Oviedo U-19 but attempting to put his young Career in the spotlight must be measured without necessarily comparing him to his Dad.
At 16, father Samuel Eto’o stormed the international football scene some 21 years ago and went on to create magic moments for clubs and country. 56 goals for country (18 as all time top scorer of the AFCON) and accumulated more than 300 goals for for Real of Madrid, Mallorca, Barcelona, Inter, Anzhi, Chelsea, Everton etc, thus unfair to put both men in same brackets.
Étienne Eto’o: “It is true that the number 9 means a lot to my family. It refers to the career of my father who became one of the best 9 in the world. However, I am making my own career. I have my own personality, that’s why I chose number 10. ”
With perhaps another 20 years of footballing career, Étienne Eto’o has just began the very long journey of making a name for himself on the international platform.
