The Ethiopian Premier League management body has declared the 2019-2020 season over without representatives for the CAF inter-club competitions, kick442.com can report.
This comes six weeks after the league was suspended indefinitely following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic.
The league management announced the decision this Tuesday.
The 16 clubs championship ends in Match-day 17 with results being inconsequential as the board has decided there will be no champions, no club will be relegated and the country will not be represented in the 2020/2021 CAF inter-club competitions.
Ethiopia joins Mauritius Island, Kenya, Guinea and Burkina Faso as the nations that have abandoned their local championships.
Mali, Tunisia,Tanzania and Burundi have announced they will complete the season and are envisaging resumption in June.
The Confederation of African expects national federations to forward their plans on the future of their championships for this season before the end of this Tuesday.
