The 2018/2019 English Premier League, EPL, season has come to an end with Africans dominating the competition.

Algerian flying winger and former African player of the year, Riyad Mahrez won his second EPL title with Manchester City. The forward was instrumental in his sides journey to the EPL submit. He has featured 27 times for Manchester City this season scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists. This includes a goal and an assist against Brighton and Hove Albion to given his side the EPL trophy on the final day of the season.

Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane shared the Golden Boot award with Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Sunday, after all three finished as the joint-top goalscorers in the Premier League during the 2018/19 season, with 22 apiece.

On the other hand, 3 other African players shared the premier league golden boots; Egyptian forward and current African Player of the year Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Gabon’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Born on June 15th 1992, Mohamed Salah has won the golden boot for the second consecutive season. With 38 appearances in the EPL this season for Liverpool, he scored 22 goals to help his side finish runners up to champions Manchester City. During the 2017/2018 season, Salah scored 32 times for his side. Salah now becomes only the 6th player to win back-to-back golden boot awards.

Senegal’s Sadio Mane on his part was also instrumental in his sides journey to EPL second position. Playing alongside Salah, Firmino in Liverpool’s attack line, his speed and agility helped him scored 22 goals for his side in 37 appearances for the club. Mane scored twice on the final day of the season as his side beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Anfield.

Gabonese and Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is also another African sharing the EPL golden boot. With 36 appearances this season for Arsenal, the 29 years old forward also scored 22 times to help his side finish 5th on the EPL table. He scored a brace to on the last day of the season to help his side pick up a 3-1 win over Burnley. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the first ever player to be crowned top scorer in both the Premier League and Bundesliga.

Apart from the EPL champion Riyad Mahrez, Salah and Mane will be playing the UEFA champions league finals while Aubameyang will be in the UEFA Europa League finals.
