Montpellier youngster Enzo Gianni Tchato Mbiayi has signed his first professional contract with the 2012 French Champions, the club has officially confirmed.
The 19-year-old who has been at the club since the age of six but finally had his chance in the first team and impressed for the French Ligue 1 giants in the matchday 30 1-2 defeat against Brest a month ago.
Enzo is an accomplished member of Montpellier’s youth set-up, starring in side at right-back and center-back last term.
The Cameroon international at Under-17 in 2019 and currently at Under-20 category has penned a one-year deal with an option for an additional year.
The teenager is a pacey in defender with an eye for goal thus explaining president Laurent Nicollin’s trust.
The professional contract signed this Monday was in the presence of his father, Bill Tchato Jackson who also played for Montpellier on 64 occasions between 2000 and 2002.
And on signing his new deal, Enzo – who has trained and being part of the first team on not less than ten occasions in the just-ended seaso said:
“Very happy and satisfied after signing my first professional contract here at Montpellier where I have been since childhood.”

It’s nice to see Montpeillier rewards its most talented youth players in this manner – further down the pecking orders, kids will be looking up to the likes of Enzo and dreaming about what their futures hold.
It is not entirely unusual for French League clubs to seek to accommodate the young sons of players – Ryan Tchato is also at Montpellier and not far from Enzo’s feat.
