Maidstone United have confirmed that the Cameroonian defender George Elokobi will be part of their team in the upcoming 2019/2020 football season.
The 33 year old Elokobi was part of the Wolverhampton wanderers side that won promotion to the premier league in a 2-1 win over Manchester United in 2011.
The former Wolverhampton centre back was very instrumental for Aldershot in the just ended season. He played on the final day of last season and has signed a one-year deal after Leaving the Rec.
Elokobi’s move come after Maidstone United had completed the signing of former Arsenal full-back Gavin Hoyte.
Elokobi said “it feels brilliant to be here. It’s a good club. I played here at the end of last season, I enjoyed the atmosphere so I’m glad to be here.”
“I spoke to Hakan Hayrettin to find out what was in place here and what sort of club it was. Once we spoke about this, it was a project I wanted to be part of.”
“I come here with a lot of experience under my belt and I can assure everyone they’ve not experienced someone like me before! We’ve had our holidays and time off and now I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Apart from Wolverhampton wanderers, George Elokobi is a former player of Colchester United, Nottingham forest, Bristol City and Oldham Athletic among others.
He joins the Stones following his departure from Aldershot Town this summer.
