Former Colombe of Dja and PWD of Bamenda forward Bin Adolf Nkembe Enow has moved ahead in the golden boot race for the 2021-2022 Cameroon Elite One season as the lead scorer in the Championship after finding the back of the net twice in the last but two round of matches on Tuesday in Yaounde.
Nkembe scored two of AS Fortuna’s three goals as they defeated Pool A winners Astre of Douala by 3-0 to end their season in style and bring an end to Astres’ run of 18 games without defeat.
The latest brace from the Dream Soccer Academy produce takes his tally for the season to 13 goals, one better than Apam Joseph of Apejes of Mfou who was rop scorer with 12 goals going into the final round of matches.
It is the first time the 22-year old hits the back of the net this regularly and ontop of that he has provided nine assists in the 19 games he featured in.
The former Cameroon under-20 international have two games to improve his tally but unfortunately he will not be in Garoua for the playoffs as his side AS Fortuna will finished the season outside the top two in Pool A.
The likes of Wassou Goue Patient and Marou Souaibou of Cotonsport with 11 and ten goals respectively are in with a chance of toppling Nkembe during the playoffs just Priso Eyango of Canon with nine goals.
If Nkembe is to end the 2021-2022 season as the player with the highest goal contribution (22 goals) in the Cameroon topflight championship, he must outscore his rivals in the remaining two games and hope they don’t better him in the playoffs.
The forward will be out of contract when the season ends. It remains to be seen if Fortuna will keep him and build a squad around the speedy finisher or he will embrace another opportunity elsewhere.
