Astre of Douala have maintained their supremacy in Pool A of the 2021-2022 MTN Elite One championship by beating playoffs aspirants Canon Yaounde by 1-0 this Wednesday.
The match-day 11 fixture played at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium was decided by a late strike from Valentine Beo Batto who scored with almost the last kick of the game.
Astres of Douala came into the fixture knowing a win against the host will open a good gap at the top of the log and didn’t dissapoint.
Canon had their chances but Astre laughed last as telling substitutions from coach Anicet Mbarga Foe in the final 20 minutes swayed the game to the advantage of the Brazilians of Bepanda.
A fine pressing work from the Astres contingent from a drop ball picked the pocket the Canonites ended on the feet of Beo Batto who scored after Emile Wendeu pushed the ball back to him.
