Les Astres football club of Douala has taken firm control of pool A of the MTN Elite one championship, following their latest victory.
The Brazilians of Bepanda defeated Colombe of the Dja and Lobo one nil, thanks to a goal from Ndzana Ngono, who scored from a Eric Api’s delivery.
Saturday’s win was the sixth in eight games for the 2021 Cameroon cup finalist, who have only lost one game this season, a 0#1 defeat to YOSA on match Day two.
Anicet Mbarga Foe’s Astres are on a four game winning streak, the longest by any club in the league presently.
Astres has won all their last four games, 1#0 against Fauve Azur, 2#1 against Fortuna, 4#2 against Panthère and 1#0 against Colombe.
Their other two wins this season, were against Racing and APEJES, sandwiched by a defeat to YOSA and a draw against Djiko FC.
With Canon Sportif of Yaounde and Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda seemingly running out of steam, the Brazilians of Bepanda have taken advantage and have opened up a four points gap between them and second place Kpa Kum.
Astres now totals 19 points from eight games, with Canon and YOSA constituting the chasing bloc in that Pool, with 15 and 14 points respectively.
Canon suffered a 1#2 defeat to AS Fortuna, their second consecutive defeat, after the were beaten by a similar score last weekend, by APEJES of Mfou.
