Cameroon Football Federation’s boss, Samuel Eto’o will preside over the inaugural game of the 2022/23 Elite football season on Wednesday March 16,2022 in Mbouda.
Bamboutos FC play the opening game as they host 2021 Cameroon champions, PWD of Bamenda who lifted the Cameroon cup trophy just three days back . The game scheduled at the MTN Arena in Mbouda will bring to an end an eight months wait for the resumption of top-flight football in the Cameroon.
Legendary Samuel Eto’o has been at the helm of FECAFOOT since voted FECAFOOT president on December 11,2022, taking over from Seidou Mbombo Njoya.
The top flight football championship in Cameroon is expected to have 25 participating clubs competing in two pools of 13 and 12 clubs respectively in the Elite zone championship.
The three last teams on in each pool will automatically be relegated to Elite Two at the end of the season.
2020/21 relegated clubs, Union of Douala, Tonnerre Kalara club of Yaounde, Panthere of Nde and Yaoundé ll FC have kept their places in the Elite one championship this season.
Bamboutos and PWD are drawn in pool B alongside, Cameroon’s lone representative in the ongoing CAF confederation cup, Cotonsport of Garoua amongst others.
The game gets underway at 4PM. PWD of Bamenda will still have to go into this game without prolific forward Nchindo John Bosco who has been out of the team for a while due to an injury.
