PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has beaten FOVU Club of Baham two_nil, in a day two game of the MTN Elite one championship. The game was played at the MTN Arena in Mbouda on Wednesday afternoon.
Following an opening day defeat to Bamboutos FC of Mbouda last week, the Abakwa Boys were determine to get back to winning ways.
The opening segments of the game at the MTN Arena was interrupted twice due to heavy downpour.
Upong resumption after the rain subsided, FOVU’s Cyrille Ngando hit the cross bar with an inswing cross, shortly before FOVU was awarded a penalty when PWD’s Moluh Mohamed fault Alex Mermoz in the box.
Goalkeeper Sombang Edward pulled a stunning save to deny Palis Olivier from the spot, and keep the Abakwa Boys in the game.
Brillant Awamukala’s free kick at the 38 minute was brilliantly tipped over the cross bar by goalkeeper Baleri Ibrahima, as both sides returned to the change room tight zero goal on either side.
Five minutes into the second half (50), Tchaoua Léger ran into FOVU’s box and was fault for a PWD penalty.
Defender turned striker Nyaba Brian, stepped up and slotted the ball pass goalkeeper Baleri Ibrahima to put the Abakwa Boys in front.
Coach Olivier Nankam of FOVU made two substitutions, with Emmanuel Justin and Eric Pafong coming in to replace Palis Olivier and Leonel Ntebeu.
For PWD, Aboubakar Mohamed and Nchindo Cletus were brought on for Chem Herbert and Ngondi Vincent.
At the 80th minute of play, Aboubakar Mohamed tapped in Awamukala’s corner kick to double PWD’s lead.
The coming in of Francine Medjo for Alex Mermoz, could not Change situations for FOVU, as PWD solidified with Malachi, Fale, and Ndeh Collins coming in for Tchaoua Léger, Awamukala and Nyaba Brian.
A two nil win for the Abakwa Boys, as they secure their first win of the season.
