PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has recorded a two_nil win over Dragon of Yaounde, in a match day 11 game of the MTN Elite one championship. The game was played at the Limbe Centenary stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Abakwa Boys came into the game on a run of four games without a win, but were looking to build on from their impressive display of match day 10 against Cotonsport.
François Enyegue opened scores for the Abakwa Boys at the 25th minute of the game with a beautiful screamer from the middle of the park, after receiving a well laid pass from Chem Herbert.
Vincent Paul Ngondi saw yellow at the 28 minute after committing a bookable offense in his attempt to stop an offensive move from Dragon.
Elong Etienne, Tche Aboubakar, Chem Herbert and Brilliant Awahmukala all wasted glaring chances to increase tally for the Abakwa Boys, as the Cameroon champions took a one goal advantage for the break.
Coach David Pagou introduced Mohamed Aboubakar and Fouda Théophile in the place of Tche Aboubakar and Awahmukala at the 57 minute of play, as Dragon pressed hard for an Equalizer.
John Paul Nzo Ngong and Ndeh Collins later on came in for Elong Etienne and Vincent Paul Ngondi, while for Dragon, David Mbende and Mexes Chico came in for Felix Kone and Yannick Tagne Wambo.
At the first minute of added time, Enyegue François pressed forward in Dragon’s defensive compartment, picked up a loose ball and linked up with Aboubakar Mohamed perfectly as the later chipped the ball over goalkeeper Bernardin Desire Ngah to secure all three points for PWD.
Cotonsport ends OFTA’s EIGHT Match winless run
In another pool B game played at the Limbe Middle Farm stadium, Cotonsport left it late to snatch a winner against OFTA of Kribi.
The Ocean boys put up a spirited fight in the first segment of the game, but Cotonsport’s captain Marou Souaibou scored the lone goal in the last quarter of the game, to condemn OFTA to their second defeat of the season.
Prior to Wednesday’s game, OFTA was on a run of eight games without a defeat. Their last and only defeat before the game against cotonsport, was a one_nil defeat on match Day two against Avion Academy of Nkam, in Bafoussam, on March 23, 2022.
The latest win takes cotonsport up to 15 points on the League’s table, with one game at hand.
Bamboutos Snatch a point from Renaissance in a four goal thriller
In the second game played at the Limbe Centenary stadium, Bamboutos FC of Mbouda scored at the eighth minute of extra time, to secure a point against Renaissance of Ngoumou.
Bamboutos took the lead at the 15 minute of the game through Guy Baronet, but Renaissance drew the game level at the 50th minute, curtsey Jean Baptiste Abate.
71 minutes on, Renaissance won a penalty after Jean Baptiste Abate was fouled by goalkeeper Talla Herman of Bamboutos. Eric Mefoe stepped up and converted from the spot, to put Renaissance in front.
Coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Boss made three substitutions, bringing on Junior Kemadjou, Jérémie Komby and Franck Achille Nyobe.
The game completely change in favor of the Mangwa Boys and they got an equalizer with just two minutes of the 10 added minutes left to play, through Jérémie Komby.
