Avion Academy of Douala skipper Mfegue Georges Omgba was the star of the Littoral derby of match-day seven of the Elite One championship this Saturday.
The 22-year old potential Indomitable Lions of Cameroon forward scored twice and assisted one goal while Jose Sandjo and Moussa Lamine got the other goal as his side outclass cross town rivals Union Sportive.
Avion Academy got off to a flying start when their skipper Mfegue beat Union’s goalkeeper Limaleba from outside the box in the 14th minute rewarding an early Avion Academy domination.
Though Union tried to put the pieces together through a pair of breaks in the counter, Avion scored again 12 minutes later through Mfegue who again left Limaleba rooted to the spot with his effort.
Arouna Dang and his Union mates looked second-best in the remainder of the first segment as Avion Academy with the advantage denied them a way back with an excellent Nzogue Desire standing for his team whenever the defense was breached.
The game remained on the books 2-0 score till the break leaving the onus of more attacking football after the interval on the Union side guided by coach Richard Towa.
In what looked like a perfect day for coach David Nganbe’s Avion Academy, former Astres of Douala forward Jose Sandjo scored a 48th minute free-kick to make it 3-0.
It looked like it was to be more about damage limitation for the five times champions as Avion cruised to their second win of the season.
Moussa Lamine completed the scoring in the 79th minute of the game off an assist from star man Mfegue Georges.
The final 11 minutes of the game had a pair of chances but a combination of good defensive and goalkeeper efforts prevented another goal for either side.
The game ended on a 4-0 score for visiting Avion Academy and Mfegue Georges.
The boys of coach Nganbe travel to Yaounde in match-day to take on struggling Eding Sport de la Lekie who came from behind to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw against Dragon Yaounde this Saturday.
