Matches counting for the fifth day of play of the Cameroon MTN Elite one championship, took place in stadia accross the country on Saturday.
As some teams continued their scintillating start to the season, the same can not be said of otherwise, who are still in search of their first win of the season. In this latest episode of our league review, we will zoom through what transpired on match Day five.
APEJES 0#2 Racing
Racing of Bafoussam recorded their first win since they returned into the top flight. Goals from Fotue Fabrice and Armel Kengne, condemned APEJES of mfou to their third defeat of the season.
Fotue smashed home a brilliant finish from an acute angle in the 32nd minute while Kegne scored the assurance goal in the 54th minute for Racing to beat strugglers APEJES 2-0 on Saturday, with APEJES now just lingering around the relegation zone in Pool A of the MTN Elite One championship.

Les Astres 0#0 Djiko FC
Djiko FC of Bandjoun took their winless run in the championship this season to five games, following their zero all draw against the Brazilians of Bepanda.
Djiko FC had scored nine goals in their four games prior to Saturday’s day five fixture against Astres, but failed to beat goalkeeper Jordan Mbaynesem throughout 90 minutes. Djiko have drawn three, and suffered two defeats in their five games this season, and are one of the teams in the relegation zone in Pool A.
AS Fortuna 1#2 YOSA
Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda maintained their 100 percent win ratio, with a 2#1 win over AS Fortuna. With captain and top scorer Tegemo Emmanuel absent due to health reasons, Toung Warren and Abena Mesina stepped up when they were needed most.
Warren had put the Yellow Submarines in front after seven minutes, but Fortuna found their way back at the 53rd minute, through a Junior Kevin Mfede’s free kick. Abena Mesina snatched a late winner for YOSA, to push the 2013 Cameroon cup Winners up to the second spot in Pool A.

Canon 1#0 Union
Canon of Yaounde and Union Sportive of Douala reignited their old time rivalry at the Ngoa Ekelle stadium on Saturday night.
With the game looking like it was going to settle in a draw, Kpa Kum’s coach Birwe Minkroe, brought in Paul Henri Tchikeu in the place of Jean Louis Nnomo, in the second segment.
Tchikeu smashed home an 86th minute goal, to settle the debate, and ensure that Canon of Yaounde continue their winning run of five on five.

Panthere 2#1 Colombe
Panthere Sportive of Nde recorded their second win of the season, thanks to goals from Mbonji Tchoupe and former PWD and Cotonsport forward, Duhamel Kalamandji.
Mbonji Tchoupe’s 50th minute free kick had put panthere in front, but Colombe pulled the game levelled at the stroke of an hour mark, through Franklin Banmassa.
Panthere however had the last laugh, when Duhamel Kalamandji Mabengue scored from a well worked efforts from Ebibi Marcel, to secure an important win for Panthere.

Tonnerre 1#0 Stade Renard
At last, Tonnerre Kalara Club smiled for the first time this season. After failing to show up for their match day one game against Union, and a run of three defeats, the Kalara Boys pulled a surprise to beat Stade Renard one_nil.
TKC got their goal through Ebassa Laura, and compounded Stade Renard to their first defeat of the season. Despite the win, Tonnerre Kalara Club remains bottom of the table in Pool A.

Avion 1#1 Bamboutos
Bamboutos FC of Mbouda fought had to earn a point against Avion Academy of Nkam. Hubert Loic Pouokam Kuate had given Avion the lead earlier in the game. Playing at home in Mbouda, the Mangwa boys fought hard an earn a late equalizer from the penalty spot, through Junior Kemajou.

New Stars 1#2 PWD
PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda capped their stay in Bafoussam, with an important 2#1 win over New Stars of Douala.
Mohamed Aboubakar gave the Abakwa Boys the lead just nine minutes into the game, as he smashed home a Tchaoua Léger’s assist.
Tchaoua Léger increased tally for the Cameroon cup winners just few minutes into the second half, but new Stars pulled one back through Junior Manga.

FOVU 0#0 OFTA
FOVU of Baham extended their winless run four games, following their zero all tie against newly promoted OFTA of Kribi. Since their opening day win over Avion, Olivier Nankam’s FOVU have struggled to find form. On the other hand, OFTA of Kribi have now recorded four draws in their five league games. The Ocean Boys have succeeded in stopping big names like Bamboutos, PWD, New Stars and now FOVU of Baham.
Eding 2#0 Dragon
Eding Sport of the Lekie made it five wins in five games, following their win over Dragon of Yaounde, at the Limbe Middle Farms Stadium this Saturday.
Goals from Jean Emmanuel Chamdjou and experienced Abdel Salam Mefire, helped Eding to maintain top spot in Pool B of this season’s MTN Elite One championship.

UMS 4#2 Renaissance
Union de Mouvement sportive of Loum was back to winning ways, in their six goals thriller against Renaissance of Ngoumou.
Renaissance scored the opening goal of the game through Yves Mbida Anguissa 25 minutes into the game, goals from Franck Eric Embe, Joseph Momaso, Willy Nameji and Eugene Jordan Essomba concluded a fine win for UMS, despite Christian Koa Akini adding a second goal for Renaissance.

YAFOOT VS Cotonsport
The game pitting YAFOOT Versus Cotonsport of Garoua was postponed, due to the latter’s involvement in the CAF Confederation cup.
