Man Ykre’s beauty was only enough to give Colombe pride as they gave away a first-half lead to lose 2-1 to a very good APEJES of Mfou side in match-day 7 of the Cameroon Elite One championship.
The slow pace fixture failed to produce the expected fireworks in the opening 40 minutes as both sides looked sloppy in possession and purpose towards goal.
Hapmo Man Ykre lifted the atmosphere of the game when he put a wonderful 42nd minute shot pass international colleague with the intermediate Lions Dande Junior on goal for APEJES of Mfou.
The goal set the stage for an exciting second segment as both sides retired for the break with Colombe leading.
APEJES returned after the break looking more incisive as coach Ndongo Emma constantly conducted his team towards the front foot.
Substitute Makani finally leveled matters APEJES of Mfou in the 57th minute of the game to make it 1-1.
APEJES pressed for a winner in the rest of the game though Colombe had a number of chances and missed.
Bryan Soga won it for the men from Mfou in the 87th minute when he converted a late penalty to make it 2-1.
The game ended on the same score to the disappointment of coach Fils Ondobo whose side only picked up their first victory of the 2020-2021 season in a 2-1 win against YOSA last weekend.
Reacting post-match coach Ndongo Emma expressed his satisfaction about the performance and results.
“Colombe had a very interesting system in place. But the introduction of Makani helped us change the situation and get this results today”
Colombe of Dja and APEJES of Mfou are away to Canon and Panthere respectively in their match-day eight commitments next week.
