Gearing up for the 2021/2022 football season expected to be launch on March 16, 2022, in Mbouda Wes region of Cameroon between Bamboutos FC and 2020 Elite Champions PWD of Bamenda. The head coach of Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda says the Yellow Submarines are ready to undertake the tough journey whenever the league kickstarts.
In an exclusive interview with kick442.com, the experienced gaffer said “Right now I can say we are ready to begin when the championship itself is going to begins, looking at the capacity, potential of the team I think we still got a wide margin of progress and we continue working on, first thing is to negotiate the initial game and from there we are going to have the right redime and we can attack the championship with no problem.”
After months of recess without enjoying much game time, coach Nkabyo Martin has been able to go through thick and thin to assemble several players from different backgrounds making them physically fit ahead of the season.

“I think we have been preparing for the season for about a month and some weeks now and the players are making progress. Our first challenge was getting the players after a long break, getting the players physically in shape and that took us the bulk of our preparation and the interesting thing is that the players are making progress in that domain.
The next challenge is to try to build the team because we have so many new players who have came in and blending the qualities they have with the old players is the challenge we are working with right now trying to gather the team with plenty of cohesion, plenty of understanding, playing patterns and a team that is able to defend and attack well can score goals.” Coach Nkabyo continued.
With a total of 13 teams in pool A and some very reputable teams, Nkabyo Martin says the aim is to grab points both home and abroad despite the situation.
“I think that pool promises to produce some very interesting and exciting games, all the teams in that pool are good, it’s going to be very challenging looking for points out of our base and even on home ground and now we are going to take game after game in every opponent it’s different. The teams are going to proposed different tactical options and we just want to work well, we want to concentrate on our team, build on our confidence and sharpen a couple of aspect of offensively, I think we have got the potential to play some very good games and like I said we are going to tackle game after game and we hope to pick up maximum points on home ground and out of our base.”
We took that particular aspect a lot into consideration while we were preparing the team, we know when the championship was going to begin there is going to be no break and we might be having three games a week. Chaining up games like that without enough rest is going to be a major challenge, we will try to work in that aspect considering that aspect, we lined up a couple of preparatory games taking all of that into consideration we play every three days.
The Elite Championship shall kickstart on March 16, and is expected to run till June 2022. A short and tight season, which the coach says his team is prepared.
“We have a young team and it’s going to take some time to adapt to that kind rhythm but I think they are prepared, we have explained to them, we have prepare them for that eventuality. Now I think it’s also going to be exciting playing the championship that’s not very long. We have been use to championship that run for two years, more than a year, it’s going to be good playing a championship that is in turn comes in 3 days I think it’s going to be exciting and we are counting on the youthfulness of our team to be able to recover fast from games and attack other games with enough physical strength.”
YOSA shall play feature in pool A alongside Apejes Academy of Mfou, AS Fortuna, Canon Sportive of Yaoundé, Tonerre Kalara Club, Fauve Azu Elite, Stade Renard of Melong, Panthere Sportive, News Stars, Union Sportive of Douala, Colombe of Lobo and Dja, Feutcheu FC of Djiko Bandjoun, And Racing FC of Bafoussam.
