Canon Sportive of Yaounde has confirmed their place for the title playoffs, following their one all tie against Djiko FC on Thursday afternoon.
Ghislain Matoukou had put the KpaKum in front with a sublime finish at the 41 minute of the game, but Djiko FC grabbed an equalizer with three minutes of regulation time left to play in the game.
With the draw for Canon and following APEJES’ shocking 2#3 defeat to Panthère Sportive of Nde, Canon secured their place for the playoffs, as they’re now more than certain to finish second in pool A, with 52 points.
Legendary Canon of Yaounde, the second most titled team in the country, now has the opportunity to fight for their 11th league title, when they face center Regional rivals Eding sport of the Lekie, in the playoff semi final game schedule for the Roumde Ajia stadium in Garoua on June 30, 2022.
It been over two decades since Canon last won a league title. The last time the KpaKum tasted league glory was in the year 2002.
Birwe Minkroe and his team are expected in Garoua on Monday June 27, alongside the two other playoff semi finalists, Astres and Eding Sport. For Cotonsport sport of Garoua, they had long returned to their based in the North Regional capital, since the end of pool B games last week.
