Cameroon football giants Racing of Bafoussam have been relegated to the second tier of the country’s football following a 1-2 defeat by fellow strugglers AS Fortuna of Mfou on Saturday in matchday 21 of the ongoing championship.
The defeat condemned coach Bernard Fotso’s to a return to the second tier championship thus limiting their return to the top-flight to just a season – having returned to the big time less than a year ago.
Racing have only won one of their games this season and lost 13, recorded just eight points from a possible 60 in a season largely characterized by lows generated from infighting between the club’s administration and its employees.
Aristide Nga Ayissi and mates have only scored 13 goals this season but conceded 30 enroute to their relegation.
Coach Bernard Fotso is his second spell in the current season, having served a suspension for over a third of the season during a time which the club had two managers who both failed to steady the drowning ship.
The recent relegation is means just like between 2017-2021, Racing will participate in the Elite 2 championship henceforth.
Five clubs from 22 that participated in the two groups abridged championship are expected to be relegated at the end of this season.
The 1996 champions have used one of those five spots, leaving the likes of New Stars, YAFOOT, TKC in the ugly battle to beat the drop.
