CAF Champions League defending champions, Ah Ahly put their rivals pyramid FC to the sword in the match day 8 rescheduled game on Tuesday night after a three nil mauling at Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium.
A scoreless affair at half time was ended by Mohamed “Afsha” Magdi as he opened score two minutes into the second half beating a pyramid defender to put the ball at the back of the net.
The subsequent minutes continued was scrappy and rough with centre referee dishing out seven yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Pyramid pushed for the equaliser when Fagrie Laykay had the opportunity to score, but Al Ahly’s goalkeeper El Shenawy and the defense did well to stop him from scoring.
Amr El-Sulaya in the 86th minutes put the game beyond Pyramid with a spectacular curler to make score two nil.
When all seemed over, Mohamed Sherif at additional time made the victory sweeter after connecting a long range pass to nick the ball home.
The tie which was to decide who controls the driving seat of the league at the moment presented two teams who were yet to lose having 26 points and 25 points respectively with Pyramid ahead.
However, the Red Devils now have the bragging rights with the win over a Pyramid side who has been a torn in their flesh in recent times winning three out of the seven meetings with three draws and a win for the African Club of the century.
Al Ahly Africa can now heave a sigh of relief as they lead with two points with a game in hand.
