Reports that are lingering out of the Egyptian capital of Cairo this hour according to Football256 – suggests that the Egyptian FA is likely to appoint their legendary coach, Hassan Shehata to form a magic diamond together his former player and goalkeeper; El Hadary and Ahmed Hassan to assist him.

These 3 men stand out in Egyptian football: Shehata with his signature White disco hair, pointing out and barking out instructions, Ahmed Hassan lifting trophies with his armband glued to the left, and El Hadary’s trademark goalposts dance after every AFCON win. These 3 are set to make a return to the national team after a period of 9 years without continental glory; barren by their standards.

Highest paid coach of the 2019 AFCON, Javier Haguire was sacked barely hours after loosing agonizingly in the last 8 by “supposed” outsiders – South Africa, and straight away they are looking to 3 times AFCON winning coach, Hassan Shahata for some resurgence of the team.

The man with the nickname: “the boss” is Egypt’s and Africa’s most successful coach. He won the AFCON 3 times in a spin with arguably the best team that has existed in continent with a talented group of players, well marshalled by then, captain, Ahmed Hassan and El Hadary always showing his class in-between the sticks.

Shehata was the nightmare of other teams in the continent, beating the likes of the Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Ghana in the finals to the country’s most successful stint in football from 2006-2010.

Since the 70-year-old left his job as the head coach of the Egyptian team in 2011, the Pharaohs have been witnessing bleak days: Egypt did not qualify for two AFCON tourneys; 2013 and 2015, only managing to get back to the AFCON in 2017 – making the finals and loosing to Cameroon. As hosts in 2019, Egypt was not convincing at all and swallowed defeat to SA in the quarterfinals. Shehata and co with their impressive record could get Egypt looking the right way again.

Maram Tarek a media volunteer at the 2019 AFCON told kick442.com this Thursday in Ismaila that “the return may be that ingredient to bring more fans around the team and his experience could be the factor that makes him does better”
