Former president of the Egyptian Football Association,Hany Hassan Abou-Rida
has announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections in the country’s football Association, kick442.com can report.
This comes barely 10 months after the experienced football administrator resigned from the same position.
The 66-year-old year former member of the FIFA Council and a one-time member of the CAF Executive Committee was pressured by the public to resign from his position as Egyptian Football Association boss last year following Egypt’s shock exit from the AFCON in the round of 16.
Hany’s departure from the FA created a void that was filled by a five-persons transitional body charged with running the affairs of the football house until a new president is elected.
In a recent interview on a local radio, Hany revealed his intentions to comeback.
“I have made a final decision to run for the EFA presidency and my list will have some familiar names, but I’m focusing on including new ones,” Abou-Rida said on a local radio.
“So far, I have not decided my electoral list because of football is currently suspended due to the CoronaVirus outbreak,” he further stated.
The announcement of his candidature has animated debates in the North African nation, but the Engineer with over 20 years of experience in football administration is hoping to get his arts right and perforate the void left by his own departure.
